Virtuagym alternative for programming, not the gym
Virtuagym is gym and member management with a coaching layer. RungGym is not gym software at all. It writes the training block, one client at a time.
The short answer
Virtuagym is built around running a fitness business: member administration, scheduling, access and billing, with coaching features layered on top. RungGym does none of that: it has no member administration, class scheduling, access control or billing. It writes the training block for an individual client: exercise selection filtered on injuries and available equipment, with sets, reps, rest and weekly progression dosed along the ACSM and NSCA guidelines. A gym that needs member management cannot replace it with RungGym; an independent trainer who only needs plans usually does not need gym software at all.
What Virtuagym is
- Gym and studio management: members, scheduling, access, billing
- A member app with workouts, tracking and community features
- A coaching layer for trainers working inside that gym
- Built for a facility with a roster, not for a single independent trainer
No Virtuagym prices on this page: they change without notice, and a stale figure on our site would mislead you. Check Virtuagym's own site for what it costs today. The table further down compares RungGym with four other platforms, as listed on their own pricing pages on 17 October 2026.
What RungGym does
RungGym builds the training block. You enter the client's goal, level, available equipment and any conditions to work around, and a complete block of 3 to 6 weeks comes back: exercise selection, sets, reps, rest and a progression percentage per week, with a source reference behind each dosage rule. You hand it over as a PDF and as a private weekly sheet. Around the block, each client's private link also holds a nutrition log against your calorie and macro targets, habits, weekly check-ins with progress photos, messages and self-booking of your 1-on-1 moments. It has no branded app in the app stores, no card payments from your clients, no group class scheduling and no integrations with other platforms.
Stay with Virtuagym if
- You run a gym or studio and need member administration
- Scheduling, access control or direct debit runs through the same system
- Your members expect an app tied to their membership
- Several trainers share one client base and one calendar
RungGym helps if
- You are an independent trainer who bought gym software for its plan module
- You use maybe a fifth of what you pay for
- Building a plan still means picking every exercise from a library yourself
- You want a block that respects a client's condition without you policing it
Most likely: alongside, not instead of
If you run a facility, keep the facility software. RungGym replaces none of it. This page exists for the other reader: the independent trainer who ended up on gym software because it was the thing that came up, and who really only needs the plans.
Frequently asked questions
Can I manage my gym's members in RungGym?
No. RungGym holds clients so it can write their training blocks and follow them up. Booking is one to one only, and there is no group class scheduling, no access control, no membership billing and no member app. It is not gym software.
I am a self-employed trainer. Do I need gym software?
Usually not. Member administration, access control and scheduling are facility problems. A self-employed trainer with a handful of clients generally needs two things: a way to plan sessions and a way to invoice. Those are two small tools, not one large platform.
Does RungGym work outside Europe?
Yes. It is web-based, priced in euro worldwide, and the guidelines behind it, ACSM and NSCA, are international standards rather than regional ones.
