An ABC Trainerize alternative for writing the plan
ABC Trainerize is a broad coaching platform. RungGym is lighter: it writes the block, filtered on injuries and equipment, and gives clients a private page.
The short answer
ABC Trainerize is a broad coaching platform: a client app, workout delivery, habit and nutrition modules, and business features, several of them sold as add-ons. RungGym is not a platform: it is a generator for the training block itself, dosed along the ACSM and NSCA guidelines and filtered on the client's injuries and available equipment. Trainerize gives you somewhere to put the plan; RungGym writes it, and also gives each client a private web page with a food log, habits, check-ins, messages and booking. Trainers who need a branded app their clients download from the app store should stay on a platform and use RungGym only for the programming.
What ABC Trainerize is
- A coaching platform with a branded client app as its centrepiece
- Workout delivery, habit coaching, nutrition and progress tracking
- Several capabilities sold as separate add-on modules on top of the base plan
- A per-client pricing ladder, so the bill grows with your roster
The price table further down quotes ABC Trainerize as listed on its own pricing page on 17 October 2026, with a link to that page. Prices change without notice: check the source for what it costs today.
What RungGym does
RungGym builds the training block. You enter the client's goal, level, available equipment and any conditions to work around, and a complete block of 3 to 6 weeks comes back: exercise selection, sets, reps, rest and a progression percentage per week, with a source reference behind each dosage rule. You hand it over as a PDF and as a private weekly sheet. Around the block, each client's private link also holds a nutrition log against your calorie and macro targets, habits, weekly check-ins with progress photos, messages and self-booking of your 1-on-1 moments. It has no branded app in the app stores, no card payments from your clients, no group class scheduling and no integrations with other platforms.
Stay with ABC Trainerize if
- A branded app your clients download is part of what you sell
- You need the payments, add-ons or business tools you already run on it
- You coach large groups or run multiple trainers in one account
- Your clients expect a native app rather than a web page
RungGym helps if
- You pay for a broad platform but really only use the workout part
- The plan builder still leaves every exercise, set and rep decision to you
- You want injuries handled as a hard filter instead of something you remember to check
- You want the source behind a dosage rule visible, not implied
Most likely: alongside, not instead of
If you use the app, the habits and the check-ins, a platform earns its place. Do not cancel it for a tool that does one job. The realistic move is to keep it and take the programming out: generate the block in RungGym, deliver it through the platform your clients already have on their phone.
Frequently asked questions
Does RungGym have a client app?
Not an app in the store, but your client does get their own screen: a private link, installable to the phone home screen, with their worksheet, nutrition log, habits, check-ins, messages and booking of your 1-on-1 moments. If a branded app in the app store is essential to how you work, you need a platform, not RungGym.
Does RungGym do nutrition?
In part. You set daily calorie, protein, carbohydrate and fat targets with a written note, and the client logs food from the Open Food Facts database, by typed barcode or by hand. From those targets it also builds a meal plan of everyday dishes with a shopping list and a PDF; it has no recipe library. Its training programming covers resistance training and general conditioning.
Is RungGym cheaper than a full platform?
It depends entirely on your client count and which add-ons you use, and we deliberately do not publish anyone else's prices here because they change. RungGym's own prices are on the pricing page, per client band, with no add-ons.
