The story
About RungGym
RungGym was not dreamed up in a meeting room. It grew out of the work of a personal trainer who spent every week typing out plans.
Why this tool exists
Every client has a goal, a level, an injury history and their own equipment. Writing a considered block for each one takes an hour, and it comes around again every few weeks — for every client.
Most trainers cope with one standard plan, lightly tweaked. That works until a client with knee complaints gets the same lunges as everyone else. RungGym starts from the opposite end: the rules are fixed and evidence-based, the content differs per client.
Our principles
- 01
Source over gut feeling. Every dosage rule for sets, reps, rest and progression points to a concrete source (ACSM, NSCA, published research). Where there is no hard source, we say it is generally accepted practice instead of selling it as proven.
- 02
Safety is not a checkbox. Injury exclusions sit at the core of the selection, not as a warning afterwards. An exercise that is advised against simply never enters the plan.
- 03
Honest about limits. Pick a frequency below the ACSM recommendation and RungGym will still generate the plan, but with an explicit note. You know your client better than an algorithm does.
- 04
The trainer stays the coach. RungGym writes the plan; you judge it, adjust where needed and guide the execution. The software does not replace expertise, it saves typing.
Where we stand
RungGym is a young product. The training engine runs on a database of 191 exercises, each with its muscle groups, equipment, variant family, execution cue, injury exclusions and source references. Next up: more exercises, finer periodisation and a client portal — in that order, driven by trainer feedback. Run into something? Let us know, that's the fastest way to improve it.
