A PT Distinction alternative for the training block
PT Distinction is personal trainer software with branded apps and AI tools. RungGym is narrower: a dosed block with injuries as a hard exclusion.
The short answer
PT Distinction is personal trainer software for online and hybrid coaching: custom-branded apps, messaging, nutrition coaching, payments, assessments and program building, with an AI Program Generator among its AI tools. RungGym is a narrower product. It writes the training block from the client's goal, level, equipment and conditions, treats injuries as a hard exclusion and doses sets, reps, rest and weekly progression along the ACSM and NSCA guidelines, with a source reference per rule. Clients also get a private web page with a food log, habits, check-ins, messages and booking. If you want a branded app and a full business system, stay on PT Distinction; RungGym covers the block and the follow-up around it.
What PT Distinction is
- Personal trainer software for online and hybrid coaching businesses
- Custom-branded iOS and Android apps for your clients
- Messaging, nutrition coaching, assessments and habit coaching
- Payments, packages and an AI Program Generator, all marketed by PT Distinction
No PT Distinction prices on this page: they change without notice, and a stale figure on our site would mislead you. Check PT Distinction's own site for what it costs today. The table further down compares RungGym with four other platforms, as listed on their own pricing pages on 17 October 2026.
What RungGym does
RungGym builds the training block. You enter the client's goal, level, available equipment and any conditions to work around, and a complete block of 3 to 6 weeks comes back: exercise selection, sets, reps, rest and a progression percentage per week, with a source reference behind each dosage rule. You hand it over as a PDF and as a private weekly sheet. Around the block, each client's private link also holds a nutrition log against your calorie and macro targets, habits, weekly check-ins with progress photos, messages and self-booking of your 1-on-1 moments. It has no branded app in the app stores, no card payments from your clients, no group class scheduling and no integrations with other platforms.
Stay with PT Distinction if
- A custom-branded app is part of what your clients buy
- You message clients and run assessments from the same system
- You take payments and sell packages through it
- You already use the AI Program Generator and it suits how you work
RungGym helps if
- You want injuries and conditions applied as a hard exclusion on every block
- You want the source of each dosage rule shown next to it
- You want ACSM and NSCA dosing for sets, reps, rest and weekly progression
- You want a plain PDF and a private worksheet link, with no app to set up
Most likely: alongside, not instead of
PT Distinction already includes an AI program tool, so this is not a case of automation versus none. The question is narrower: do you want RungGym's injury exclusion and its visible sources for a given client? If so, use it for that block and enter the result into PT Distinction by hand. If not, there is no reason to run two tools.
Frequently asked questions
PT Distinction has an AI Program Generator. Why would I use RungGym?
Only if what RungGym does matters to you: injuries and conditions applied as a hard exclusion filter, dosage along ACSM and NSCA guidelines, and a source reference per dosage rule. If you do not need those, the generator you already have may be enough.
Can RungGym replace PT Distinction for my business?
No. It has no branded app and no card payments from your clients. It writes the block and gives the client a private link with their worksheet, nutrition log, habits, check-ins, messages and booking.
Is there an integration between the two?
No. RungGym has no integrations with other platforms. You export the block as a PDF and enter it into PT Distinction manually.
